The Best Diet for Fat Loss

The Best Diet: A Lesson from our Ancestors

“Isabel, what is the best diet I can go on to lose weight?” I get asked this question so many times a day by confused, overweight and exhausted dieters.

If you are one of the 40% of men and 30% of women that are currently overweight in the world, you too may still be in search of the Best Diet to solve your weight and health problems. The good news is that the Best Diet was established many years ago (actually, centuries ago) by our ancestors who knew exactly what to eat to maintain a lean, slim and healthy body.

Where did we all go wrong? With the introduction of food processing, fast foods and an increase in a fast paced lifestyle (and stress that comes along with it), people began to search and find ways to produce food that was much easier, faster and retained a longer shelf life. This may be saving us all some time but it is our health and the conditions of our bodies that are suffering as a result. Just look around you. How many people do you know right now that are overweight? Probably more people than you know that are NOT overweight.

Fortunately for us, all the answers we need have already been given to us by our wise ancestors. If we just followed exactly what they ate before food processing became the norm, so many people would be able to easily return to their ideal weight and reverse health conditions like heart disease, diabetes, and high blood pressure.

Here are a few guidelines to establish the Best Diet for you, just like your ancestors:

1.
Make 80 percent of your food choices fresh and natural foods. This means foods that do not require a box or do not contain a long list of ingredients. Basically, if you can kill it or pick it from the ground or off a tree, chances are it is a wonderful, healthy choice. Examples of such foods are naturally raised beef and poultry, wild fish, raw nuts, and fruits and vegetables.

2.
Choose your boxed foods wisely. Never purchase anything without reading the complete ingredients list first. It is more important that you know exactly what has been added to your food than how many calories, carbohydrates or fat it contains. If you see words in the ingredients list like: high fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated oil, or any other word that looks more like it should be in a chemistry textbook, stay away from that food at all costs. It is these chemicals that are causing most people to gain weight and preventing them from losing their unwanted weight.

3.
Do not be afraid of fat. One of the biggest mistakes people make is avoiding fat at all costs. Our bodies cannot function well without healthy sources of fat. Our hormones, brain, spinal cord and organs are all highly dependent on fat for proper functioning. Food items like grass fed butter, organic coconut oil, raw nuts and avocados are wonder foods for your body and should be consumed every day.

The best diet for you (and for just about everyone) is the diet followed by our ancestors: One that is filled with wholesome, natural foods, healthy fats, and free of man-made chemicals. Begin today to model the diet of your ancestors and you will immediately see some remarkable changes in your body and your health.

What simple concise wisdom. Now all we have to do is convince the food manufacturers to provide pure unadulterated simple food again. Oh how I wish.. Thank you.

The more people that know about the low fat diet myths the better. Thanks for sharing Isabel!
