Back on Track with a Perfect Day and Garage Gym Workout

Alright, after a few days of recovery, I'm back.

There were a few good workouts along the way, and today it was down to the garage gym at Bedros Keuilian's house for the following fun:

1A) Double KB Front Squat - 20 reps
1B) KB RDL - 20 reps

And yesterday was ...

1A) Pushups
1B) Chinups

2A) Face Pull
2B) 1-Arm KB Overhead Press

Sore lats today!

Today's Kickbutt Mindset Tip:
Do not suffer in silence. Turn to your mentor. Ask a friend for support. Get professional help. You don't have to go through struggles alone.

CTT Victory at FBBC and FBS

Wow, what a kick-off to FBS weekend. We have some very big news to report in the TT World.

Check this out!!!

Daniel and Brittney were awarded owner of the year today at World Conference with over 500 owners worldwide.

"It was a huge surprise to us, but has really nothing to do with us and everything with our team and hundreds of clients at both locations.

We are bringing this home for you South Carolina!" - Brittney

#honored #fbbcownerofyear

Image may contain: 2 people, people smiling, people standing and indoor
Image may contain: one or more people, people standing, people on stage and indoor

And we're just getting started. CTT Nisan Trotter helped kick off the event today, and Daniel & Brittney will be on stage later this weekend.

They're even letting lil' ol me speak sometime, too.

So I'm going to take the day off from training and just do a few walks around San Diego while I rehearse my talks and think about the best particular articulations of my message.

I'll train tomorrow, and yesterday I had a great bench press workout in the hotel gym. Yep, the hotel gym had a bench press! It also had a TRX, and young Brian Kalakay, CTT, was in there dominating the straps.

If you need something fun to do this weekend, try this:

=> 60second metabolic grinders to accelerate fat loss without fancy equipment. Enjoy and CRUSH it this weekend!

Today's Kickbutt Mindset Tip:

"When things get tough, sit down and dig deep and figure out your Big Why. Why am I here? You're here for a reason. Push that doubt out.  Think about your Big Why during tough moments. Pain is temporary, but if you quit, it's forever. So just keep going." – Brittney Williams

Stay tough,

TT in San Diego and Morocco and my Garage!

Today is my last day on the farm for a few weeks. Now it's off to Toronto tonight for an early flight to San Diego tomorrow. But I'll still be following my morning rituals. They are important.

In fact, Bally The Dog made a video about your morning routine here:

Then the ol' pooch got dropped off at the kennel for a few days. Grandma will pick him up on Thursday.

The last thing I did before packing up was this great garage gym workout:

1A) Double KB Front Squat - 53x18 ... ties a personal best
1B) KB Swings

2A) DB Split Squat
2B) Plank

That should do me for a nice day off of travel.

Then the exciting times begin on Wednesday afternoon when I'll have a meeting with CTT's Daniel Woodrum and Ray Ortiz. On Thursday I speak at FBBC World Conference and do a 1-Day mastermind, and then two presentations (one on Friday and one on Saturday).

On Saturday I'll be recording a lot of podcasts and videos, and then delivering one of my legendary Perfect Life Workshops on Sunday.

Good times!

Today's Kickbutt Mindset Tip:
Today is the perfect time to start again. If you've fallen off-track, revisit your goal and re-do your plan. Yes, there will be obstacles. No, it won't be easy. But the path to success IS simple. It's been done by someone worse off than us, with much bigger obstacles, and yet they were somehow able to rise up and succeed. If they could do it, so can you. But you must start now.

Push on,

Craig Ballantyne, CTT

PS - Shout out to Certified Turbulence Trainer Steve Agyei...

... for representing TT in Morocco this week at a yoga retreat he's teaching. Thanks Steve for helping us towards our 10 Million Mission.

Spreading TT love all around the world!

Monday Funday Meathead in the Garage

Sunday was one of my legendary Device-Free days. There was no phone, internet or TV... although I did sneak a peak at the television screens in the gym. It's hard to ignore them. Going device-free helped me do a LOT of BIG thinking on Sunday and gave me clarity about this weekend's presentation at FBS and also about some CTT program changes.

Watch the video I made about Device Free days here =>

Exciting times ahead.

Now for a workout roundup.

Yesterday at the local YMCA I hit this...

1A) Hang Clean

1B) Mobility

2A) Deadlift

2B) Box Jump

3A) Leg Curl

3B) Thick Grip Shrugs

Good times.

And then today it was Funday Monday

1A) Close-Grip DB Incline Press

1B) Band Pull

2A) Pushup Maximus

3A) DB Triceps Extension

3B) DB Hammer Curl

So much fun.

Today's Kickbutt Mindset Tip:

If you stumbled on the weekend, pick yourself up and get right back on track. It's minor damage that can be dealt with. Focus on what you can do today. #perfectdayformula #dominateyourday #controlwhatyoucan

Push on,

Dumbbells and Delays

Final day in Florida, presuming my flight gets out! Yesterday's flights were cancelled, and today's have been delayed, so we'll see what happens.

Of course, I can only use the 3-C Formula in situations like this. I can't do anything about the weather. I can't make planes fly faster.

Instead, I need to:
a) Control what I can... my thoughts, words, and deeds.... my emotions and actions... my energy and focus.
b) Cope with what I can't control... I'm always prepared for delays. I have food, water, work, and thanks to my personal evolution, I now pack patience with me more than ever.
c) Concentrate on what counts... Don't sit around and complain... instead, focus on my legacy. Everyone can do this. No matter how small the action, EVERYTHING matters. Make the right decisions, right now, for your right life. Always.

I'm also grateful for this morning's workout.

1A) DB Chest Press
1B) TRX Row

2A) Chin-Up
2B) Pushup Maximus

Today's Kickbutt Mindset Tip:

"Are you waking up stressed and worried about "feeding the beast"? Your beast might be your social media page, your business, or your biggest vice. What is your beast feeding on? Your ego? Lust of money? Negative energy? Addiction? What is one thing can you do right now to strengthen yourself and starve the beast? Ok, now go and do it!" - Craig Ballantyne

Back Under the Bar in Tampa

After an easy day off yesterday, and some great family time with the Ballantyne's and Marion family, it was back to the gym today.

1A) Squat
1B) Box Jump
1C) Mobility

2A) Split Squat

Tomorrow is a MASSIVE upper body workout with a combination of a bench press workout and then I fly from Tampa to Toronto ... so yes, my arms will be tired.

LOL. I am so funniez!!!

Now let's get back to being serious with training...

... and let's get to work, no excuses!

Today's Kickbutt Mindset Tip:
Why do we make short term decisions that ruin our chances of long-term success? Why do we eat junk when it makes us feel bad? Why do we watch so many shows when we could be doing something that matters? Why do we hide our goals when we know that getting support helps us succeed? The answer: We are human. But we can fix our flaws and better align our behaviors to match our goals. #BetterEveryDay

Go get better,

Craig Ballantyne, CTT

Florida Fun and Deadlift Times

The fun times in Florida are still going on, although we've switched coasts. I'm now enjoying a visit to the Tampa area with my friend Joel Marion and his family. On Sunday we drove across Alligator Alley and up the Gulf Coast.

Today I hit Joel's Garage Gym for a great session.

1A) Deadlift
1B) Box Jump

2A) DB Step-Up
2B) Core Training

Today's Kickbutt Mindset Tip:
Failing to plan is planning to fail. Minutes wasted are minutes stolen from your family. Build in your fast-start routines so you get off on a head-start, not a slow start. Take your planning as seriously as your dreams... because that is the first step to achieving them. All you need to do is plan ahead and success in every area of life will come to you faster!

Plan on and stay strong,

Miami Meathead Workout Before South Beach Steak

Low key day in Miami on Thursday. No dinners out.

Tonight we go to one of my favorite restaurants, Prime 112.

Today's Miami Meathead workout:

1A) Military Press
1B) Pullup

2A) Bodyweight Row
2B) Cable Abs

3A) Barbell Curl
3B) DB Triceps Extension

Good times.

More work for a bit, then over to South Beach later.

Today's Kickbutt Mindset Tip:
"Do one thing everyday that scares you."

I used to think this was silly advice. And then I wondered why nothing - that mattered - was changing in my life. So I opened up. Dove in. Set my ego aside. Faced my fears. And ended up stronger than ever. Time for you to do the same.

Go get scared,

Craig Ballantyne, CTT

You can follow along here:

All good fun.

Had a good rib eye steak at STK Miami last night, fueling today's workout:

1A) Front Squat - 2 reps short of a PR... legs had it, but wrists did not!
1B) Mobility

2A) DB Reverse Lunge
2B) Leg Curl

Later today I'll go for another big walk around the water.

Until tomorrow's report, I'd like you to watch today's video because I believe this fixes the #1 cause of your 1st world problems

Video Palooza and Front Squats

Today has been a fun video day. I've been screwing a bunch of them up, but I'll get it right eventually.

Besides, I learned a long time ago that mistakes don't matter... and that everything is a learn-able skill, whether you want to get good on video or if you want to stop swearing ... or start juggling... or become a KB guru.

Everything. Is. Learnable.

And YES, you CAN stop swearing.

It's simple.

You can do it.

I did it.

Not cursing won't stop you from making an impact.

After all, there was no swearing in Frozen... or The Golden Girls... and look at the impact they had. :)

Watch this for the help you need to STOP swearing so you can live a virtuous life and have a greater impact on the world:

I did that video in one take...

And sometimes my one-take videos turn out terrible.

Like today for instance, I filmed a video with poor sound.

People complained.

So I shrugged it off and filmed it again.

No big deal.

Lesson learned... and now I'll be better on video EVERY time.

Here's the redo... with 3 great tips on how to make the most of your days

Alright, now let's get to some workout... videos. :)

Yes, one more video. It's my garage gym up in Canadia. Good times.

It's not a very good video, so I'll do a better one soon.

Anyways, that was where I did this workout:

1A) Double KB Front Squat
1B) DB Shrug

2A) DB Split Squat
2B) Ball Curl

Tomorrow is an off travel day to Miami with my mom and sister.

Probably do a big walk when we get there... gotta go to Whole Foods to stay on track with nutrition while traveling!

Test Results Are in!

Saturday's physical was fun times in Toronto. I frightened the staff with my alarmingly low resting heart rate (40bpm), impressed them with my blood pressure (110/75) and estimated VO2Max (over 50 ml/kg/min), and wow'd them by beating their low standards for pushups, cardio tests, body fat levels (i'm up to an all-time high of 11%!).

Some other physical anomalies about ol' CB:
- I'm going deaf at low frequences and my left ear is worse than my right, but my hearing in the human voice/conversation range is fine.
- My fingernails look really weird. Always have.
- I have really poor circulation in my fingers (hopefully just Reynaud's)
- My HDL (good cholesterol) is off the charts... possibly the highest the doctor has ever measured in the clinic
- My eyesight is almost perfect (Thanks LASIK!)
- The nutritionist told me to stop eating so many protein bars... I don't get it, what's wrong with 4 protein bars per day.
- And YES, I am 5'9! (I spent the first 35 years of my life thinking I was 5'8.)

Ha, and then the personal trainer (who administered the pushups test) asked me if I did Crossfit.

I told her "No, but I know a 'little bit' about exercise."

The testing lasted about 4 hours and it's great to now have a set of baseline scores for the rest of my life.

I'll probably go back in 3 years, or two if something changes dramatically.

Yesterday I got back in the gym on a new program. After a big breakfast at the hotel in Toronto, and after posting another video on my Instagram page:

I drove back to the YMCA in Stratford for a late morning workout.

1A) Hang Clean
1B) Mobility

2A) Deadlift
2B) Box Jump

3A) Front Squat
3B) Leg Curl

Not bad, but I still know I can get my strength up.

After that we filmed Bally's first video for Instagram.

Today I'll hit an upper body session in the garage gym. Tuesday is lower body in the garage gym, and then Wednesday we're taking my mom to Miami for her 75th birthday.

The trip will be like "The Golden Girls Go on Vacation"... although my mom will stay up way later than me each night. LOL. We have lots of great restaurants to visit and we'll hit South Beach on Friday, Golden-Girls style.

(I'm obviously Sophia. )

Until then, lots of work to do... so get going!

Here's how to Beat Procrastination

By the way, if you're over 40, you should get a physical, have a cardiovascular stress test, hire a trainer to test your fitness and take your body fat, get your blood measured, and (if you're over 45) get a colonoscopy. (I had one when I was 38 because of family history. It's not that bad, trust me.)

Take care of yourself for your sake, your family's sake, and peace of mind.

It's just another disciplined action to make your life easier.

Today's Kickbutt Mindset Tip:
Discipline and short-term pain equals progress and long-term gain, while long-term pain comes from lacking short-term discipline. If you sleep through the alarm, you regret it all day. If you get up with the alarm, you suffer for 3 minutes, but win your morning and own your day. You control your time and conquer the chaos of the world. =>

CB on Instagram

This is a little weird, but I started posting some short videos on Instagram.

You'll like the one about my greens drink morning cocktail.

I had that before this workout...

1A) Front Squat

That was it.

Moderate training week...

Starting back up with 'real' workouts on Sunday.

Today's Kickbutt Mindset Tip:

You must take personal responsibility for who, what, and where you are in life. Nobody makes your decisions for you. Nobody owns you – or owes you.

Extreme productivity depends on...

- Control of self (i.e. teaching your subconscious to do the work while you sleep)...
- Control of environment-working conditions (eliminating temptations)...
- Control of others (don't let people distract you)...
- Control of time/priorities (script your day and don't let it get away)
- Control what you can and concentrate on what counts.

Own your day and control your life with the Perfect Day Formula!

TT Summit 2017!!!

Back in the late summer of 2012, my life was drastically changed. That may sound "dramatic", but let me tell you what happened...

At the time I was managing a bootcamp, doing personal training on the side and trying to pay off my college debt.

There was never enough hours in the day to get everything done. It felt like I was barely able to keep my head above water. It was only a matter of time before I sank to the bottom personally, professionally and financially.

But after just one weekend in 2012, that all changed.

Only 6 short months after that weekend, I was generating an extra 10K per month at my bootcamp, cut my college debt nearly in half and most importantly I was able to get more done in less time.

My life looked dramatically different.

How did all this happen?

I attended this special event

It was like that entire event was put together just for me. Every person I met that weekend added value to my life more than they'll ever know. My excuses were eliminated. My hardships were solved. My life was changed.

That weekend I realized MORE people in my community needed my help. It provided weekend me the resources and motivation to make it happen.

Listen, there are people in your town desperate for YOUR help. You are their only hope. You can save their life.

If you're in the fitness industry or even if you're thinking about getting into the fitness world…

You need to read this VERY important article

You'll see exactly how to get started there.

I've attended this event every year since 2012. It's where it all started and I discovered my life's purpose.

Hope you'll join me this year,

Daniel Woodrum, Master CTT

PS - Opportunity is knocking. Will you answer it?

Transform your life here - I'll see you there?
