4 minute plank record

Bit of a recovery - and recording breaking - workout today.

Started the day with 2 big servings of cacao nibs.

I do not use a lot of caffeine, and whatever neuro-stimulant is in cacao (is it caffeine? Theobromine? not sure), it gets me wired.

And so in just a short recovery workout I set a new personal record in the in boring ol' plank.

Not only did I break a record, but I crushed it by 25%.

I went from 3:07 to 4 minutes and 1 second.

That's ridiculous.

My muscles were fatigued from the 4-minute isometric contraction, specifically my quads and delts. But after a few shoulder mobility exercises I was ready to move on to 200 squats and 200 pushups in sets of 25 squats and 15 pushups.

It all went down in about 15 minutes and later today I'll be playing Paintball with the ETR team in Denver as we celebrate our our big month in July (when we launched www.6minutestoskinny.com to the world).

Today marks day 14 of the journey and so here are the updated stats...I have a lot of work to do on the harder, more inconvenient exercises. Tomorrow I am going to do a lot of reps on handstand pushups, rows, and pullups...and maybe burpees, too.

Total Reps today:
200 squats
200 pushups

12 week cumulative total:

15,000 Bodyweight Squats
  • 3082
10,000 Pushups
  • 1861
3,000 Bodyweight Rows
  • 620
2,000 Pullups
  • 140
1,500 Burpees
  • 230
1,500 Chinups
  • 152
333 Handstand Pushups
  • 35
= 6110/33,333 reps
