Four Minute Workout When You Have No Time

Early flight to New York City today, so there was only time for a 4-minute bodyweight workout at home. Just 8 rounds of punisher squats, that's it.

If you're hard up for time, I've got a quick lil workout for you today. It's short, targets the abs, and doesn't require any equipment. Follow along here:

BTW, here's some great TT Member feedback on that exact 4-minute workout:

"Woke up this morning considering going outside for some training but decided i didn't have time. I had a look on Facebook and saw Craig had posted a 4 minute abs video. I clicked the link and Brian Kalakay started bouncing around and calling bullshit on my excuses.  Ok Brian, I'm up, I'm up. End result - 4 minute workout in my hotel room – Timmy C

And if you have more time, do this 5 exercise circuit to torch calories and crush your cool...like if you like it...or if you curse my name during it
- http://www.ttfatloss.com/abdominal-contraction-training/

Those workouts will help a lot of people, and if you like that, then you should check out the TT Summit.

I also want to say congratulations to Tom Schweickart, the newest Certified Turbulence Trainer! Looking forward to seeing Tom at the www.TTSummit.com in just a few weeks.

Today's Kickbutt Mindset Tips:
Take full responsibility for your environment and behaviors. Everything you do sets you up for success or puts another obstacle in your way. What simple changes can you make today that will increase your odds of success and reduce the risk of failure?

Because habits are powerful!

“Typically, people who exercise, start eating better and becoming more productive at work. They smoke less and show more patience with colleagues and family. They use their credit cards less frequently and say they feel less stressed. Exercise is a keystone habit that triggers widespread change.” – Charles Duhigg

Stop Muscle Suicide By Stopping the Insanity!

Today a gentleman told me that he was eating only 1200 calories (!) and trying to burn 1000 calories through spinning and cardio.

That's muscle suicide!

My reply to him:
Please increase your calorie intake! No man should be below 1800 calories per day unless on a medically supervised diet. Slowly increase to 1500 calories and then eventually to 1800. We will totally need to shift your mindset towards weight loss and building a better body.

Please check out this FREE nutrition plan to go with TT:

He needs to build muscle to burn fat and change his body. I've made the same mistake in the past as he has, and that's why I've dedicated my career to helping people avoid muscle suicide from too much cardio and hard dieting.

Build muscle - that's the way to a better body!

My #Meathead Training today:
Bench press, pull-ups, db incline press, db row, hammer strength row (a weird, weight stack version).

But back to fat loss...another TT reader asked for my beginner fat loss workout recommendations:

For bodyweight only, start with the beginner workouts from
- www.HomeWorkoutRevolution.com

... and if you want weights, start with the beginner workouts in
- www.TurbulenceTraining.com

Now that brings me to a common question that I answered on video recently:

How much weight should you be using while you train?

And yes, for most people, eating less IS important. It's tough with all the media, advertising, and corporations focused on getting us to eat more. But here's the truth:

Losing fat is a game between you and the outside world. Everyone, from family to friends to co-workers to restaurant owners to TV advertisers is scheming against you to make you eat more and exercise less.

Like it or not, it’s true.

They might not be doing it on purpose, or with bad intentions, but they are happier when you are fed, full, and flat out on the couch. You must always know your options.

You must have Plans A, B, C, D, and E. You must be prepared to counter-attack. When they say pizza, you say sushi. When they say take-out, you say, “I’ve already prepared my lunch”. When they say, “Happy Hour”, you say, “Workout first.” Surround yourself with people who are fitter and healthier than you.

Stay strong!

Today's Kickbutt Mindset Tips:
If you don’t have social support, take charge as the leader. Be confident in your choices. People will respect your decisions, even if it seems at first that they don’t. Eventually, a lot of people will come to you for advice and support. You are the one making the right decision. Never forget that.

Keep identifying the obstacles, and notice "cause and effect". What gives you great results? What puts you off track? Then do more of what works and less of what doesn't. Every day is a chance for improvement. I'm still getting better too!

You are where you are because of your choices. But there is nothing to gain by regretting things. Review your past decisions for lessons and make a new decision to change. Take Action Today.

Ok, time to go. Travel day from the farm back to Toronto.

Stay strong!

Personal Trainer of the Year

This guy is going to rock your world at the TT Summit.

Actually, these two guys (plus Martin Rooney, Adam Bornstein, John
Romaniello, Kate Vidulich, Brian Kalakay, Mikey Whitfield and more
)
are going to rock your world with their amazing secrets to success.

But today, I want to focus on two guys...first, Bedros Keuilian. I've
specifically requested that he bring his most Politically Incorrect tips
for getting new clients and building a personal training business that
supports your PERFECT life. And he's promised to do that for me.

And today, Bedros has a story about a trainer that will be at the TT
Summit...a high-energy, overnight success story that you'll want
to meet. Bedros said that this trainer was more successful than me -
and even him - because of his near overnight success story.

I'll let Bedros explain...

The Successful Personal Trainer
By Bedros Keuilian

Let me tell you about a trainer who I wish I was more like when I first
started out in this industry.

Sean Francis is his name - The Phenomenon is what I call him.

I first met Sean at Fitness Business Summit 11, I don't recall thinking
that he was anything special...

Truthfully, he didn't think of himself as anything special either, I'll tell
you how I know that in a moment.

Little did I know that back in 2010 - 2011 Sean was making only a couple
thousand dollars a month running his two outdoor boot camp locations.

He was struggling to make ends meet.

He was in constant frustration trying to figure out his business.

His business frustrations where starting to affect things at home with his
wife and daughter.

Things could have gone bad really quickly...

By the time he got to Fitness Business Summit 11 he was looking for
something new to try try to save his business
.

Apparently at some point during that weekend I took the stage and
offered my 7 Figure Formula Mastermind program.

Sean didn't act - he told himself "I'm not ready".

Later that day when he went to the restroom he wife filled out a
mastermind application for him and turned it in.

At the end of the weekend he was surprised to hear his name called
off as one of the new members of my 7 Figure Formula coaching program.

Bewildered he took the stage with all of the rest of the new members.

Here's what happened next...

Within a couple of after the first mastermind meeting Sean grew his
income to just over $9,000 a month.

A couple month after the second mastermind meeting Sean took his
boot camp revenue to $16,000/month and a few months after that
he took it up to $20,000 a month.

The man was on fire - unstoppable!

The next year at Fitness Business Summit 12 Sean shared his story of
how he had struggled with his business, and how he was frustrated with
it's growth and lack of success success, and how while he didn't believe
in himself enough to join the mastermind - his wife did, and signed him.

The audience voted and Sean was the winner of the Land Rover that I
give away each year at FBS.

Well deserved.

It was like a switch had flipped in Sean...and it could for YOU, too
.

Just a few months after winning the Land Rover, Sean decided to open
up a Fit Body Boot Camp location.

True to form, within the first 6 days of opening he had filled his FBBC
location up with 100 paying clients - mostly from his email list and the
pre-grand opening Facebook promotion that coach Fernando here at the
HQ helped him set up.

As you can Imagine, I had to ask Sean to take the stage at FBS13 and
share how he found success so quickly.

The words out of Sean's mouth when I asked him to present in front of
500 plus fitness pros where something to the effect of "Holy cow!".

Like many of us Sean had never spoken to an audience that big...

...and like many of us, he was terrified by the though of public speaking.

Within minutes though he shook off the fear, looked across the room to
Dan Ritchie (another super successful fitness expert from the 7 Figure
Mastermind group) and asked Dan, who had spoken at FBS the previous
year, if he would give him some tips.

It's good to have a network of trusted and successful friends to turn to at
times like that :-)

Just last month Sean took the stage at FBS13 and ROCKED it!

Every presenter at FBS13 rocked it out and brought their A game because
they were competing for $2,000 of my money for their favorite charity
- but Sean CRUSHED IT and won the best presenter award.

He not only won the best presenter award and money for his charity,
he also won the PT Power 2013 Personal Trainer of the Year award
as well.

To date Sean is the ONLY one to have won the Land Rover, the Best
Presenter award AND the Personal Trainer of the Year award.

A trifecta!

And last week when Craig announced that registration for his TT Summit
was open, Sean was the first to sign up for that too.

Success is attracted to action.
I have a suspicion that Sean's going to take what he learns at the TT Summit
in June and use it to help even more people and grow his businesses further.

What an inspiration.

Here's a guy who just two years ago didn't believe in himself enough to
sign up for a coaching program that he so badly needed.

Thank God his wife singed him up when he wasn't looking.

That was the "flipping of the switch" for Sean.

Since then he's kept himself out of his comfort zone...

he's the most positive guy with a "can do" attitude you'll ever meet...

he stays coach-able, always humble and takes massive taken massive
action no matter how much it puts him out of his comfort zone.

I can't tell you how proud I am of Sean and his work ethic.

Like I said earlier... there's nothing special about him or others like him.

YOU have it in you just like Sean does.

At some point (like NOW) you gotta say enough is enough, chose to take
action... invest in yourself and putting yourself around others who can help
you get to where YOU want to be.

Only YOU can choose to flip the switch.

I believe in YOU.

Advanced Bodyweight Training for Abs and Arms

I'm testing out new Five Minute Meathead workouts.

Today I did one for back, another for shoulders, and then finally one for arms. Some of them were six minutes long, and that's okay, but it's amazing what you can get done with focused tension in a few short minutes.

Once I put the finishing touches on these, they will go in the new TT 2.0 program coming out in September.

Simple Diet and Exercise Solutions for Fat Loss

Simple nutrition, social support, and intense exercise are the 3 keys to fat loss.

Do you have all of those in your life?

If not, here are the solutions.

First, avoid the junk. That's more important than worrying about how many grams of protein you get.

Here's the BIG Problem and the Simple Solution...

...from a client's food log:

"Saturday, 9pm-2am: Drinks and fun. 2:30am - Got home and was raiding the pantry. Thankfully I had no junk food at my place so I settled for yogurt and fruit. This goes along with what Craig also says about if it's not in your house you can't eat it. There's no doubt if I would have had junk food available I would have devoured it!" - The #1 Nutrition Rule: If it's not in the house, you won't eat it!"

You bet!

Next up, a step-by-step plan for adding intense exercise to your life.

Get ripped with interval training, NOT cardio
- www.TurbulenceTraining.com/intervalreport

Here's another solution. It's a great weekend workout - 4 minute full body workout with no equipment

Today's Kickbutt Mindset Tips:
You know that person that you look to as being “perfect” and “having everything”? Never forget that they struggle too. They have flaws. They have dips and dark days. They aren’t perfect. And I don’t say this so that you take delight in their difficulties, but as a reminder to remember that everyone has their own battles to fight – and win.

Deadlifting and Eating Banana Bread

Started my day with another great dog walk in the countryside. The tranquility of the country is unmatched. If only everyone could have the privilege of starting the day with a nature walk, the world would be a better place. It's really great.

Today's #Meathead training: KB Snatch, Deadlift, Military Press, Split Squat.

Workout was followed by a huge chunk of banana bread made with almond flour and a milk chocolate shake from BioTrust.

Great Saturday. Now for some uninterrupted writing to get ahead of June's busy travel schedule.

Two principle sources of unhappiness, according to Stoic philosophy, are our insatiability, and our tendency to worry about things beyond our control. So…Focus on what you can control – and that is your goals and values.

Banana Bread Recipe

Weird update today because there wasn't a lot of exercise going on.

Actually, I take that back. I found some stuff worth sharing.

First, ever wonder how many workouts per week you should be doing? Here's the answer
- http://j.mp/HowManyWorkoutsPerWeek

And the truth about heart rate and fat loss
- http://j.mp/IntensityforFatLoss

Before that I had my best meditation session ever going for a full 30 minutes. It helps when I'm tired. I think I fell asleep sitting up a couple of times! It also helps when I'm out here on the farm - much more tranquility. Started the day with a dog walk through a forest. That helps reduce stress big time, as long as the dog comes back when I call.

Now for some nutrition advice and a great recipe.

Get out of “fat gaining” situations as quickly as possible. Don’t put yourself in situations where temptation will be too great for your willpower. Cut your losses. Don’t feel bad trashing junk food. If you really, truly want to lose fat, you won’t let others make you feel guilty for your decisions.

But here's an amazing nutrition decision to make (if you aren't on a hardcore diet). Try this:

Looking forward to trying this on the weekend...getting Grandma to make this for my sister's birthday on Monday

Almond Flour Chocolate Banana Bread

bowl 1.

3 cups of almond flour.
1/2 cup of ground flax seeds
1 tblsp sea salt
1 tblsp of baking powder (optional)

bowl 2

3 well done bananas. (mash them up real good)

bowl 3.

1/4 cup of honey or maple syrup
1/4 cup of coconut oil
1/4 cup of water (optional)

mix bowl 2 and 3 together and mix up really well.

then mix into bowl 1 and mix it up really well.

you can then smash up some dark chocolate and blueberries into the mixture and mix up really well.

pre heat oven to 350.

grease up a bread type baking pan with coconut oil.

mold the mixture into bread shape and put in pan.

cook for about 45 min or so.

PS - Loving this!

"Hi there TT Team, I would just like to share my experiences I’ve had with TT’s customer service. Every single email that I send you guys I always get a response which is something I’m not used to. Whenever I email other fitness sites requesting more info on their programs, I either don’t get a reply or I get told to join their membership first before they can give me a response. As there’s a time difference because I’m in South Africa and most fitness companies are based in the northern hemisphere, I usually get a response the next morning and then a reply to my follow up email the following morning again but that doesn’t happen with Turbulence Training. Not sure how or what you guys are doing but I get real time email responses from you which is unusual and fantastic although I know there’s time differences so I am in no rush, I also get very informative responses so no back and forth emails all the time ☺ Not only that, but I can’t believe how much info and exercises I get for not much money. So keep up the great work guys and keep pumping out great programs as well. Regards." - Janine, Cape Town, SA

Today's Kickbutt Mindset Tips:
If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. If you do not have 2 solutions for every obstacle, you will feel guilty and shameful every time you give in. Set the rules for your life, because they make so many decisions easier. If your philosophy is “no foods from a bag or a box”, then you can get out of temptation much easier. There is no, “should-I or shouldn’t-I”, because you have RULES. You know for sure that many decisions either fit your philosophy or they don’t and it makes successful behaviors automatic.

One ingredient literally NEVER to eat

Back in 2000, while attending a small science conference at the Holiday Inn in Barrie, Ontario (where I ran last summer's Toronto Tough Mudder), I discovered one ingredient NEVER to eat.

Literally, NEVER.

And yet it is one of the most common artificial ingredients, and you've probably had a couple of grams already today (probably in the peanut butter that you thought was healthy).

According to Dr. Bruce Holub, a researcher at the University of Guelph (where my friend Brad Pilon did his research): "There is NO safe level of this ingredient and food producers should cease and desist the industrial production of it."

WOW. Could he be any clearer? In fact, eating just a tiny amount of this nasty ingredient can increase your risk of heart disease and make you store more and more visceral fat...
A dangerous kind of belly fat that's almost impossible to get rid of.

But at the link below, my good friend and Food Investigator, Nick Pineault (aka - the "Nutrtion Nerd") reveals EXACTLY how to rid this TOXIC food from your life forever:

Believe it or not, MANY of the "health" food labels that show zero amounts of this toxic ingredient actually contain significant amounts, but food companies get to LIE about it. Seriously, thank the government lobbyists for another scam.
But due to Nick's relentless investigation of fat-burning Foods, you can now avoid this fat-storing nightmare:

Please get rid of it immediately for your family's safety.
Eat healthy and lose fat instead,

Craig Ballantyne, CTT
Certified Turbulence Trainer

PS - Here are some of the foods you'll find it in...

- pizza and pie crust
- granola bars
- nut butters
- anything from a bag or a box
- almost every cheat food
- fast food milkshakes
- cookies
- donuts (sorry Homer!)
- some frappincino style coffees
- and worse, so many of your children's foods!

Please beware this TOXIC AVENGER!

Grocery Shopping

Picture the foods in your fridge at this very moment.

Did you know that most of the "healthy" foods inside contain hidden fat-STORING ingredients without you even knowing it?

Did you also know that there's a super simple way to rid your life of these "fattening" foods and SWAP them with delicious foods that BOOST your metabolism and speed up fat loss?

And you can do it today - in LESS than a few hours:

Inside this new, controversial article my friend and Food Investigator (aka - the "Nutrition Nerd"), Nick Pineault, reveals 3 things you must STOP doing when you buy your "healthy" foods at the grocery store.

Check it out here:

The discoveries Nick shares in the article at the link above are so important that it changed the way I shop for groceries forever.

Eat right for fat loss or get burned by sneaky fat gaining foods,

Craig Ballantyne, CTT

PS - Hurry, before you eat again...

...because you don't know which foods are causing the problems.

You probably have these 3 foods in your kitchen right now, and the best thing you can do for your health and fat burning efforts is to get rid of them right now! Go read Nick's article and take action today.

Squat Workout and Lower Body Circuit

Great to be back in Toronto. The absolute best time of year. The weather is great, and the eternal optimism of spring is in the air. The only better place to be would be the ol' farm, and I'm heading out there on Wednesday.

Perfect for crushing legs at the gym.

My #meathead training: Squats, box jumps, circuit of narrow squats-bulgarian split squats-DB RDl, and 3 sets of the ab wheel. Good times.

Now I'll be honest, my legs were already a tiny bit tired from Sunday's 4-minute workouts.. You can re-watch those workouts here

In that same video, Joel Marion gave out some brilliant tips on Carb-Cycling. If you missed it, you can still get his complete 5-step nutrition blueprint on how to create the body of your dreams PLUS a few of my 4-Minute Miracle workouts.

Today's Kickbutt Mindset Tips:
If something doesn’t feel right, get out before it is too late. Surround yourself with positive people. Get rid of the toxic ones in your life.

Same with bad habits. Once a habitual path is chosen, the rut gets deeper faster than it gets wider. Consistency only makes it worse. Discover the problem and power of habits here:

If you are trying to kick a bad habit, one tip is to try a new, healthier alternative every day. Breaking the bad habit 3 days in row is key.

Develop new, stronger habits that will allow us to reach our goals. Start by…1) Setting deadlines for your new positive habits. 2) Making small changes every day. 3) Preparing for those days when we feel like doing the opposite of what we should be doing. … You can do it. You can break free from your comfort zone. If you believe in yourself as much as I believe in you, you will succeed beyond your wildest dreams. It may not be easy, but you can and will do it. I’ll be right here with you every step of the way.

Monday Motivation

Happy Monday. Let's make this an excellent week. Here are the right mindset tips you need to succeed.

Start with right habits:

Develop new, stronger habits that will allow us to reach our goals. Start by…

1) Setting deadlines for your new positive habits.

Then get social support:

As I’ve talked about time and time again, social support is a huge key to success. However, just as important as getting support is removing all negative influences in your life. This may be painful. You might not want to give up hanging out with lazy friends that eat junk all the time, but if it is killing you and making you fat and unhappy, it MUST stop. Same with work friends. If all they do is sit round and complain, then you can’t be in that environment.

If something doesn’t feel right, get out before it is too late. Surround yourself with positive people. Get rid of the toxic ones in your life.

“Don’t demand or expect that events happen as you would wish them to. Accept events as they actually happen. That way peace is possible.” – Epictetus, The Art of Living

But stay positive this week, no matter what goes on in the big bad world or even in your own personal environment.

You can't change all that is wrong in this great big world, but YOU can have an impact, even if it is just a tiny, positive impact on a stranger that receives a smile from you on the street today. There's so much we can do for others, and in the end, what we do for others ends up benefiting us 10-fold. So let's do this. Let's make our little worlds amazing today.

Train hard but safe,

Exercise Rant and Habits

Beautiful day in Denver.

I went down to the hotel gym and did an MRT circuit. Tomorrow I'm doing a bunch of 4 minute workouts. Join me tomorrow for this here and we can do the workouts together:

By the way, do you agree or disagree on this Workout Equipment RANT
- http://www.ttfatloss.com/workout-equipment-rant/

If you are stuck doing cardio, you're in a rut. And you need to change and build better workout habits.

Develop new, stronger habits that will allow us to reach our goals. Start by…

1) Setting deadlines for your new positive habits.

Today's Kickbutt Mindset Tips:
Play up a level. Go deeper into the bigger circles of people that you want to be connected with. The old saying is true, "You are the average of the five people you hang around the most." And YES, people on the Internet count...so hang around FIT people online and offline if you want to be FIT.

Do great things. Show the world that there are indeed POSITIVE people out there...that you care...that SOMEONE cares...that there is hope...that if you persist and never give up on what is important to you, that you CAN make progress...that there will be better days...that after the darkness there comes a dawn. If you do all of this, and open your heart and care for others and even support perfect strangers, your world will open up to enormous opportunity and gratitude.

Don’t hang around losers who don’t want you to succeed. Cut the cord quickly. Quick is less painful than drawing things out. Search out more positive people and experiences.

4 Minute Workout Broadcast is LIVE on Sunday

Playing catch up on the blog today. It's been a crazy travel week. First Denver, then NYC/Stamford, then Toronto, now back to Denver. We are broadcasting LIVE on Sunday afternoon!

Find out ALL of the details about it and get the EXACT "4-Minute Miracle" that thousands of people like you used to build an amazing body here:

In a LIVE event on Sunday, I'll share a secret that will allow you to build an amazing body in just 4 minutes a day. It's perfect for busy people who don't have time to waste.

My #meathead workout today: Deadlifts, Good Mornings, Military Press, Bulgarian Split Squat.

More videos!

This workout is too much for an off-day workout, but if you ever need a bodyweight-only fat burning workout, then here's a good circuit to have
- http://j.mp/BWCardio400

Today's Kickbutt Mindset Tips:
Doing the right things brings you less stress and more results. It couldn’t be any simpler than that. So your job is to make the “right things” easier to do. That means staying out of environments that tempt you to make the wrong decisions. That means spending less time with the people that tempt you to make poor choices. You only have one life. It can be right and simple, or wrong and frustrating. We all know what to do…now it’s time to do it.

"Your real goal is to figure out how to honour your calling, and get paid for it. If you can do that, that makes your life that much easier.” – Oprah

And so with that advice, let’s get clear on:

A) What you want to do
B) What you can do
C) What you’re willing to do

If the answers to all three of those questions are not congruent, then you will always struggle. Period. And here’s a dirty little secret. That’s okay. Maybe you don’t really want to be successful. That means you just have to go back and adjust your answers to A and B based on C. Because the answers to C really determine your standing in life.

Time Saving Tips for Training and Work

Today I'm at a business seminar in Stamford, CT. It's the hometown of my buddy, Ryan Lee, a long time fitness and business guru. But today's seminar is with Boardroom, Inc., the big company that sells books on health and wellness. Should be fun.

In order to be on time to the seminar, I trained early (5am - although not as early as yesterday!). The workout was pulldowns, stability ball rollouts, rows, jackknives, shrugs, and bodyweight squat intervals. That was followed by my morning meditation session.

Add this conditioning change to your upper body workouts
- http://www.ttfatloss.com/unique-upper-body-workout-twist/

And get a 4-minute miracle abs workout here:

It's all about saving time.

Below are my 3 best daily tricks/habits. What are yours?

1. At the end of each workday, I script out my next day of work. In 30 minute increments so I know exactly what I’ll be doing and won’t have to worry about “deciding” to work.

2. At the start of each workday, I attack the most important item on my list. Once that gets done, I’ve built up a pile of unstoppable momentum that carries me through the less important tasks. I also stay out of my email until I’ve been at work for at least 5 hours.

3. I go to bed and wake up at the same time every day. I get just under 8 hours of sleep per night and I wake up every morning feeling rested and energized. (This is an important quick-fix that can help a lot of people get more done quickly)

So each day, I exercise, manage both of my businesses, take the time to read and relax with family. I can do all that and still get plenty of sleep because I take time each day to plan my work and then I work my plan.

Your results are your responsibility…..“Take full responsibility for your actions or lack of action.” – Kekich Credo #43

Try this unique workout twist

During my early morning workout in Denver I added a unique workout twist to my classic meatheads superset.

After doing curls and triceps, I added 20 bodyweight squats in place of my rest. That will give you the interval training boost you need without cutting into your upper body recovery.

It's the perfect unique workout twist. I'll show you a bunch more great ideas on the Home Workout Revolution live online video broadcast next Sunday. Reserve your FREE spot here:

http://homeworkoutrevolution.com/ultimatefatloss/

After that early morning unique workout it was time to say goodbye to Denver and head off to NYC, then Stamford, CT. Hopefully to see my old buddy, Ryan Lee and some others.

Ryan has helped me transform my business many times. Just like I want to help you transform your body. Can't wait to see what amazing results you will get:

Today's Kickbutt Mindset Tips:
Ask the BIG question - "What do I want to achieve in life?" And then, "Are the people I’m hanging around helping me achieve this?"

And this important quote from the most important book I’ve ever read:

“We who lived in concentration camps can remember the men who walked through the huts comforting others, giving away their last piece of bread. They may have been few in number, but they offer sufficient proof that everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms — to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way.” – Viktor Frankl, Man’s Search for Meaning

Transformation in Denver with Bill Phillips

It's Monday and you better be off to a great start to your week!

Don't let anything get in the way of your workouts.

If you must, simply set the alarm 15 minutes early, get up, and pick your favorite Home Workout Revolution program.

Even if it's just 12 minutes, 8 minutes or even 4 minutes long, you'll boost your fitness and burn fat. Don't let anything get in your way...after all, you don't need ANY equipment.

Keep pushing and stay strong. I believe in you! You can make big changes with consistency. No excuses! Let's do this!

Here's to another great week of fat burning.

My week started off perfect with a great day in Denver walking around the Highlands neighborhood. Thousands of people out enjoying the day.

Then last night, while eating dinner in a restaurant, we "ran into" Bill and Shawn Phillips in Denver (& their mom!).

It gave me a few minutes to talk to Bill about Transformations & how to give you more support.

I told him about my 7-step success formula
- http://www.earlytorise.com/my-7-step-success-formula/

And he agreed about the power of social support.

I plan on dropping by one of his Transformation camps soon.

Today's Kickbutt Reminders:
Remember “The Urgency Equation”: Multiply your age by 365. Subtract that from 25,000. Thats about how many days you have left to take action. So don't stop!

Here's a big tip:

Start by getting up 30 minutes earlier each day. Then try to find a 4-hour block each week (probably on the weekends) to work really hard on your business.

Training Injury Update

Had a small injury happen to me while squatting yesterday.

As I dropped down into rep 2 of my final set, a felt a twinge at the top of my right hamstring and bottom of my glute. Fortunately I was able to complete the rep, but that shut down the rest of the workout.

I immediately did some light stretching, and stayed as mobile as possible for the rest of the day on Saturday by walking around a few times. It's not too bad today, but there will be no heavy lower body lifting sessions for a while. Unfortunately, I don't have a chance to see my chiropractor for Active Release Treatment until May 22nd (due to my extensive travel schedule over the next 10 days) - bummer.

Today's workout will be for the upper body back at FIT gym in San Diego...bench, pullups, and rows.

Give this a shot if you need a quick NO-equipment workout today
- http://www.homeworkoutrevolution.com/freeworkout/

Nutrition Update:
Yesterday's gluten free, brown-rice flour pancake stack filled me up for a long, long time.

Didn't have much for lunch other than some salad greens, fruit, an apple, and 1 oz almonds.

Dinner at McC and Schmick's was okay, not as good as Donavan's, but I had a similar meal:

Chilean sea bass, 3 jumbo scallops, and a side of broccolini.

It's a nice restaurant with great service.

Then early to bed, even though it was party night here at the Hard Rock in SD.

One more workout and then off to Denver.

Give this a shot if you need a quick NO-equipment workout today
- http://www.homeworkoutrevolution.com/freeworkout/

Today's Kickbutt Mindset Tips:
No one can do the work for you. It is YOUR responsibility to get up and do the workouts, to plan, shop and prepare your meals on the weekend. To identify two solutions for every obstacle you encounter on a regular basis. For the mindset that you have about food, exercise, consistency, and your ability to succeed. It begins and ends with your internal responsibility. I will help you as much as humanly possible, but ultimately, success lives and dies with YOU and your ability to TAKE ACTION.

"No one gets old by surprise.” – Kekich Credo #84 ….. We all have things we want to accomplish. We all have dreams and goals of a better life that we want to live. Yet for some of us, the steps we need to take to get there are always “put off until tomorrow”. Take action today!

Diet and Peer Pressure

Without a doubt, one of the most difficult things about losing fat
is eating in social situations.

The peer-pressure (from both the ignorant and immature) is the toughest
test of your commitment.

If you want to succeed, you have to lay the ground rules. There is no
room for debate. You are either in or you are out. <= #1 rule!

And you might just surprise some folks when you show them that life can
go on if you don't eat chicken wings with them.

Be proud of the healthy changes you are making.

There are a lot of folks in your life secretly wishing someone will take charge
and be a healthy role model for them.

It might not happen overnight, but if you continue to lead by healthy example
- without preaching or being condescending - you can build an entourage of
social support and people who want to be healthy like you. This will build
powerful relationships that will take your health to the next level.
And YES, you can still enjoy amazing foods while on a fat loss program,
including plenty of CARBS, too.

So if you're sick & tired of confusing low-carb diet programs that leave you
starving and stuck with stubborn belly fat, then I have great news for you.

With our NEW and improved TT Simple Nutrition System, you are
GUARANTEED to be able to eat a lot of carbs and still lose fat.

Plus, you'll get over 31 blender drink, smoothie, and post-workout shake
recipes to help you add the fuel to your metabolism fire.

And all for just $7 here

TurbulenceTraining.com/NutritionDeal

This program is not...

- "low carb"
- confusing or complex
- restrictive (you'll actually be full & satisfied)

It's not your fault that you're confused about this whole
fat loss diet thing...the so-called experts are making big
bucks with their complex point systems that they sell you.

Listen, even though I make my living as a trainer, I'll be
the FIRST to tell you that DIET is more important than
exercise for fat loss
.

That's why you're getting this SIMPLE fat burning nutrition
guide for less than the cost of lunch at Subway.

It's extremely important that you have a simple, easy to
follow, and practical nutrition for fat loss guide.

And finally, it's here (and at a ridiculously low price).

I'm dedicated to helping you simplify your nutrition program
so that it is easy (and delicious) to follow for fat loss.

Heck, I stay at 9-10% fat all year round while eating tons
of carbs and loving every meal I eat
- rather than following
a diet plan that is so restrictive it causes dreaded binges.

So not only will you get proven fat loss advice (this system
is backed by clinical scientific research) but your new program
will also take the stress out of eating.

It's so simple...even ol' Bally the Dog uses the plan to keep
his six pack abs (and yes, a vet once told me that my dog
has six pack abs
).

Funny, huh?

So get ready to discover...

- The Simple Nutrition Rules for fat loss

Diet and Deadlift in Diego of San

I have a routine down here in San Diego.

It all starts with a great workout at FIT Athletic, one of my favorite gyms in the world. Today was deadlifts, military presses, bulgarian split squats, and shrugs. Good times.

Then I hit a Mastermind meeting and a few meals with my business partner, Bedros Keuilian, of www.PTPower.com

Breakfast - omelets at Broken Yolk (I get 4 eggs, double spinach, avocado - good replacement for cheese, and mushrooms, along with a side of fruit). I also have my daily apple and 1oz of almonds and even 1 cup of raw broccoli before this (part of my daily checklist food).

Post-Breakfast Starbucks walk - We head up a few blocks to Market street so he can get an iced coffee and I grab a water.

Lunch - At our meeting we always have a huge spread, but that includes vegetables, salad, and usually one meat and one fish dish. Yesterday was salmon and chicken. And they had purple cauliflower too.

I eat a big lunch, and that took me right to dinner last night.

Dinner - Usually we go to Donavans for sea bass, but last night I had work to do so I skipped it and had some roasted almonds and an apple...still full from lunch.

Today's Kickbutt Mindset Tips:
“One of my core values is to keep learning and keep leading. Constantly learn and always improve. I look for people that I know are doing that, and I only learn from them. That’s a little trick. Learn from people who are learning all the time. You get a little edge because of that. If you are learning from someone who’s still doing old stuff, you’ll learn. You can’t not learn, but those people aren’t growing, so you can only learn what they already know and can’t catch up. If you are learning from someone who is learning at the same rate as you, it’s exponential. That’s a little secret to do.” — Alwyn Cosgrove

Take action and challenge yourself

Challenges are an awesome way to add in more variety to your training AND to put your afterburn on steroids.

And nobody knows Challenge workouts better than Certified Turbulence Trainer, Shawna Kaminski

Once you have that program, make sure to take ACTION!

“You must APPLY all the information you have…you can’t just gather information. You must take action. Many folks invest time and money in learning new skills but are still broke because they haven’t put them into use.

"Be an ACTION TAKER, not an information gatherer. Do, don’t just talk. Get outside of your comfort zone. Avoid self-sabotage. Take responsibility for your success by being an action taker. Fail forward. Those who don’t take personal responsibility and don’t take action will be in the same place 12 months from now…only older.

"I know you’re different, and I know you are an action taker. You want a better life, and you deserve it, not go out and get it.” – Bedros Keuilian

Today's Kickbutt Mindset tip:
Within everyone there are two people: the person you are now, and the person you could become. That depends on your actions. Choose wisely.

Be an action taker.

And be proud of yourself for taking action, getting out of your comfort zones, and getting closer to the business and life of your dreams. It’s your life and doing the right thing is more important than what other people think or say about you. Stay strong. Get stronger.

Get Ripped at Any Age with 20 Minute Workouts

It was easily the toughest workout I've done all year.

And I blame it all on one woman. (Actually, I thank her for it.)

You see, this workout used something sneaky called the "M2A" scientific breakthrough that shocked my metabolism sky-high for the rest of the day.

I've tried over and over and over again to replicate the exact feeling that I got from this simple circuit, and nothing has worked.

All I did was six rounds of burpees + jump rope (you've probably watched me do this in the Home Workout Revolution program). But there was something in the way she designed the recovery periods that allowed me to work super hard while recovering just enough...it was amazing.

Now she has a new workout for YOU.

That's right, Shawna is 50 years old and ripped. She is the real deal. She's also a Certified Turbulence Trainer, so you know her workouts are legit - in fact, TT-approved. She was even part of my film crew for the upcoming new TT 2.0 system.

She'll even be at the TT Summit, and hopefully we can have her lead an "M2A" bootcamp workout and kick our butts.

Until then, save over 50% off her new follow-along, 20-minute fat loss challenge workouts that work faster than any cardio program or DVD set you can buy off TV.

And if that's not enough to get you moving, I'm adding in a Hardcore Workout bonus of my own. When you get Shawna's program, I'll give you these three TT workouts:

But hurry, you only get the rapid results 48-hour fat loss challenge diet program as a fast action bonus TODAY.

Then get ready to get extreme fat burning results from one of the top Turbulence Trainers in the world.

Get lean and ripped at any age,

Craig Ballantyne, CTT
Certified Turbulence Trainer

PS - Shawna is living proof...

Bench Press and Bodyweight Workouts

Ah Monday. Another chest workout. Yep, my Meathead bench press and row workout fell on magic muscle Monday.

Of course, someone else was using the bench press when I wandered in. Fortunately, after doing my pullups, they were done. On to my lifting.

Today's workout:
1) Pullups

2) Bench Press

3) Bench Press using the Rest-Pause method described in Jim Wendler's article (I linked to this yesterday)

4A) DB Row
4B) DB Incline

Great times.

If you're too busy for Meathead training, here's a 4-minute full body workout video for you from me. Happy Monday!

Another reason to exercise (besides looking and feeling amazing): You’ll be surprised by the ideas you get during exercise. In fact, most people find this – along with taking a shower – to be their most creative times of the day.

BTW, here's a training tip for you:
When starting back after time off, the last thing anyone should be doing is "adding extra". They should be starting small and slow and doing just a couple of basic exercises, and just one set for the first week (of 2-3 workouts per week) and then 2 sets of 4-5 exercises in week 2. Then a full program in week 3.

Remember...they weren't doing ANYTHING last week. So a couple of exercises a couple of times per week in week 1 is better than NOTHING. Too much = injury, extreme soreness, and dropout Always be conservative.

Today's Kickbutt Mindset Tips:
“Small-minded people habitually reproach others for their own misfortunes. Average people reproach themselves. Those who are dedicated to a life of wisdom understand that the impulse to blame something or someone is foolishness, that there is nothing to be gained in blaming, whether it be others or oneself.” – Epictetus, The Art of Living

Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude; nothing on Earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude– Thomas Jefferson

New Training and Travel Nutrition

So nice to get home (even though 11:30pm is a little late for me) and to sleep in my own bed...and go to my regular gym.

Lots of stuff to do to get ready for the next 2 weeks...I go to San Diego (Fitness Mastermind meeting), Denver (ETR filming), NYC - seminar, Toronto for an eye doc visit, and then back to Denver for a cool Home Workout Live Broadcast on Sunday, May 19th. Stay tuned for more details!

Today's Training ... Starting a new 4-week program and returning to Jim Wendler's 5-3-1 approach. I enjoyed his recent article here on getting stronger and bigger:

Today's training will be good, just as yesterday's nutrition was.

Although I ate a couple of Biotrust protein bars, I did pretty well all things considered (having to leave hotel room at 12pm and not having a flight until 8pm...but wanting to avoid spending money).

Thanks to the fridge in my hotel room, I had fresh fruits and vegetables, and then thanks to my upgrade on the flight home, I had a chicken breast, great salad, and some tiny vegetables (skipped the rice, and of course, no bread or cake).

It was tough though, not to ask the kid beside me for some of his licorice, as he broke out a family-sized bag of Twizzlers that he had picked up at duty-free.

Fortunately, I was entertained by the two travel magazines I bought (I have an odd obsession with hotel reviews) and the movie, Gangster Squad.

Lucky to be eating at home today...and the fridge is stocked with real food.

Two days of this and then back to the airport on Tuesday morning - then San Diego! And several nights of Sea Bass at Donovan's restaurant.

Today's Kickbutt Mindset Tips:
Let’s get clear on:

a) What you want to do
b) What you can do
c) What you’re willing to do

If the answers to all three of those questions are not congruent, then you will always struggle. Period. And here’s a dirty little secret. That’s okay. Maybe you don’t really want to be successful. That means you just have to go back and adjust your answers to A and B based on C. Because the answers to C really determine your standing in life.

Be proud of yourself for taking action, getting out of your comfort zones, and getting closer to the business and life of your dreams. It’s your life and doing the right thing is more important than what other people think or say about you. Stay strong. Get stronger.

Step it up Saturday

Today I had a great upper body pull Meathead workout at the Renaissance Hotel in Orlando, Florida. Last day here before I head home.

Workout was pullups, pushups, pulldowns, WYT's, DB Chest Supported Rows, Triceps, and Biceps. Yes, some #meathead arms. Great times.

Got a great pump. Then again, last night I "ate like I meant it". BIG MEAL.

If you're a classic steakhouse guy like me, you'll love The Palms at the Hard Rock in Orlando. Great steak and sides & even better staff.

I finished off the bone-in ribeye, an entire side of brussel sprouts, and half an order of mushrooms. Really, really great. I'm still full 12-hours later.

Looking forward to hearing from NY Times Best Selling author, Lorel Langemeier, today at Dan Kennedy's SuperConference. One of her big tips is like the ones I give to our readers at www.transformationcontest.com

Play up a level. Go deeper into the bigger circles of people that you want to be connected with. The old saying is true, "You are the average of the five people you hang around the most." And YES, people on the Internet count...so hang around FIT/RICH/HAPPY people online and offline if you want to be FIT/RICH/HAPPY.
