An early morning interval session today was followed by a flight home from Miami to Toronto. However, there was a mechanical issue with the plan that set us back a couple of hours.
But that was fine. Fortunately, I follow my own advice. Here's what I had posted on FB earlier in the day:
Plan for problems. Things rarely go as planned, so be agile. List all the objections and obstacles in your way and know what you have to overcome. Whatever is in your way, you’re stronger than it, you’re tougher than it, and you’re better than it. You’re going to beat it.
And so I was prepared with things to read and snacks to eat. The delay gave me a chance to re-read Steven Pressfield's fantastic book, "Do the Work". It's full of classic quotes such as:
"The more important a call or action is to our soul's evolution, the more resistance we will feel toward pursuing it." - Steven Pressfield
"The enemy is our chattering brain, which, if we give it so much as a nanosecond, will start producing excuses, alibis, transparent self-justifications, and a million reasons why you can't/shouldn't/won't do what what you know you need to do." - Steven Pressfield
"That a project has crashed is not a reflection of our worth as human beings. It's just a mistake. It's a problem - and a problem can be solved." - SP
"Be too dumb to quit and too stubborn to back off." - Steven Pressfield
"Taking a few hits is the price for being in the arena and not on the sidelines. Stop complaining and be grateful." - Tony Keppelman
