Just got in from another workout in the surf...the waves were big at the Tay Street beach in Mt Maunganui. This is an area of the beach where they built an artificial reef to help get more waves for surfing...
Locals have told me it hasn't worked much, but today the waves were as big as I've seen them down at the main beach.
I officially got put through my first "washing machine" by a big wave.
Lots of upper body work from the paddling, but unfortunately not a lot of great rides. Still fun though.
