Yesterday I was having a debate with my friend (and personal Yoga and recovery coach), Missi Holt.
"Craig, quit being a Halloween grinch," she said, after I told her of my and Bally's plans to just give out broccoli, Brussels sprouts, and toothbrushes for Halloween.
"Choosing not to hand out candy, or to pass out really healthy items may seem like a good idea, but in reality, no one likes it! Here are 5 simple candy swaps."
- 1 Hershey’s Milk Chocolate or Nestle Crunch mini for 1 Special Dark Chocolate bar
- 1 Snickers mini for 1 mini 3 Musketeers
- 1 box of Raisinettes for 1 snack bag of Dark Chocolate Covered Almonds
- 1 package chewy or fruity candy (Starbursts, Skittles) for 3 Tootsie Roll minis
- 1 Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup for 2 York Peppermint Patties
While these swaps still contain processed sugar, they each contain fewer ingredients or higher-quality ingredients, making them better choices when it comes to handing out goodies this Halloween. Think of it as a baby step in the right direction — and a good way to avoid having any disgruntled trick-or-treaters playing any tricks on you!

Surround yourself with positive people. Get rid of the toxic ones in your life. You become like those with whom you associate and who you associate with is more important than you could ever imagine. Do not accept anything less than the best – otherwise you are cheating yourself.
If you want better workout results, exercise with people that are consistent and successful.
If you want to eat better, hang around people that make the right choices and know of healthy, delicious options. If you want to stop a bad habit, avoid people that will lead you into temptation.
