Dinners and workouts on the road

Been having some great dinners on the road this week. Perlas and Sullivan's Steakhouse on Thursday.
Then a late Friday night dinner in Austin - surprisingly went with indian food...i think it was called
Little India. It was great.

On Saturday morning I had an early flight to Miami to spend time with my friend Matt from
www.facebook.com/thenewearlytorise and his family. His kids (aged 3 and 5) are adorable.

We went to the Setai Hotel for dinner. The chicken satay and spring roll appetizers were great. I had
organic salmon for my main course - which was fantastic.

Now I'm off to hit Gold's Gym for a Miami Meathead upper body workout, then flying back to Toronto
today. Yesterday was the most inactive I've been in over a year. All I did was walk from gate to gate
in the Austin and Atlanta airport. No dog walks, no lifting, no bike rides - should be well rested for
my workouts this week. Legs are a little stiff from Friday's squat workout still.

Today's Kickbutt Mindset Tips

3 ways to rehab your body

While down in Austin, Texas last week I had dinner with my friend John and his wife at a great
seafood and oyster restaurant called Perlas. It was a great atmosphere, and the staff were incredibly
friendly. The food, including the mussels, red snapper, and grouper were really good too.

As we caught up, John told me about how he and his wife were planning to do one of those 10-mile
"Tough Mudder" runs, but training had been leaving them plenty sore.

So I gave them the following 3 resources, and wanted to share them with you too - and they are free.

I've used them all (obviously), and my chronic injury and pain level has been lower than anytime
during the past 5 years - despite training a lot with heavy weights.

Enjoy, and yes, you CAN overcome pain and soreness at any age.

Gold's Gym Workout

Great start to the days. I woke up on Eastern Standard Time, nice and early, without an alarm clock,
and still felt like I slept in. We had a later dinner at Sullivan's Steakhouse here in Austin, which wasn't
bad, but before that, I met up with other friends at Perlas Oyster and Seafood bar. I had more fun at
Perlas, and my friends really enjoyed their meals. The folks at both restaurants were really nice, but
"cooler" at Perlas. I'd go back there for sure.

Nice work everyone...today I trained at Gold's Gym in Austin, Texas at 6am. Perfect meathead
environment, and they had boxes for box jumps, a glute ham raise, and empty squat racks.

In Home Warmup and Deadlift Workout

Great deadlift workout this morning. I started my warm-up in my apartment with the tunes blaring
and using the lil travel roller (foam roller substitute) that I ordered from Fitter First. It's really cool,
and I might take it on my trip to Austin tomorrow. I usually travel with an acuball but I left that out on
the farm.

After about 15 minutes of rolling and bodyweight exercises, I did a short commute to the gym on my
bike and got into glute-ham raises and box jumps. Those were done for just a couple reps each to
continue my warm-up, and then I started specific deadlift set warm-ups.

As you can see, my warm-up is long. I've usually been going at it for 20-25 minutes before I do my
first real set of deadlifts, but I use such a long warm-up (my old man warm-up - posted on the blog
at www.TTFatLoss.com) because I go quite heavy and push the limits in my workouts.

You don't need such a long warm-up for metabolic resistance training TT workouts. You only need
10 minutes or so of rolling, a total body circuit warm-up and specific warm-up sets for your main
exercises.

Tomorrow I'll workout at the Gold's Gym in Austin, Texas. I've trained there before and it's good
enough, and I always try to hit Gold's when I travel. And since I've done so many workouts on the
road, I'm going to write up a list of the top 10 gyms I've visited and workouts I've had around the
world. Look for that tomorrow.

Hill Sprints and Last Chance

The next step in the Turbulence Training 1 Million Transformation Mission takes place August 26-27th in San Diego.

If you're a trainer looking to help more people, I hope you'll join my awesome team (and my buddy Bedros) here

=> http://www.TTSummit.com

It's your last chance to register at the Early Bird price AND get three awesome bonuses. This is going to be an incredible weekend for any trainer interested in being part of the Turbulence Training 1 Million Transformation Mission.

My workout today included the old-man warmup followed by some hill sprints out on the farm. After this I'm heading back into the city for a couple of days, and then off to Austin, Texas for a 3-day trip. Then back out to the farm before a big trip later this August.

Today's Kickbutt Mindset Tip:
Happy people measure their progress against the past, not against perfection. Are you improving? That is what matters.

Meathead Monday Bench Press Goal

Today's meathead workout was good times. Left me with quite the old pumped up arms and shoulders. The order went like this, underhand pulldown, bench, db chest supported row,
db incline press, face pull, triceps.

My goal for today's top set of bench presses was 200x11, but I only hit 10 reps. Still that is an improvement on my previous program and I'm going in the right direction, with shoulders getting stronger and having less issues with the rotator cuff muscles on my left side.

And I have my "old man warm-up" to thank for that.

My current 1RM estimation for the bench press is around 275 pounds, a long way from my personal best of an actual 310lbs bench in 2006, but I'm working my way back up.

Share your goals with the RIGHT people - the ones who will encourage you, motivate you, and connect you with others who will move you forward towards your goals and dreams. And constantly take action - one step (baby or giant, doesn't matter) every day closer to your goals and dreams.

Squat Workout and New Project

Great workout today. The gym opens at 8am on Sunday, so I did the foam rolling, bodyweight warmup, etc. at home, then drove 7 minutes to the gym, and got right into my specific warm-up sets, followed by 3 great sets of squats. Continuing to improve, but a long way from top strength. Enjoying the journey.

Probably off to some outdoor eating festival today, and that's no problem for me and you one day per week. But if you want to lose fat, always remember who wins the battle of diet vs. exercise

Today's Kickbutt Mindset Tip

Cool story that supports writing down your long-term goals and vision...Four years ago, when Tony Bates was an exec at Cisco, he and his wife created long-term goals...Tony's written goal was to be CEO of a major company before age 45...he listed 4 companies, including Skype...and it happened. Today, Tony is the CEO of Skype (at age 44). Make sure you are setting your goals and writing them down.

And my new project, "Early to Rise".

I'm now editor of a website called, www.EarlytoRise.com. It's been around for over a decade and has been a tremendous influence on me. I first started contributing to Early to Rise back in 2005, and now I write the main articles for it. It's a big deal for me.

Jungle Gym XT Workout

Today's Outside Workout included Jungle Gym XT pushups, rows, rear-delts, triceps, and biceps, plus KB 1-arm overhead press, and some Power Wheel handwalks and pikes.

Great times.

I would have kept on going but I don't need the muscle soreness, plus I'd clearly hit a point of diminishing returns.

And today's Independence Tip (for next week):
Create a work area that allows focused concentration and productivity.

Make sure that you are set up to minimize distractions and maximize output so that you don't end up staying 30 minutes late because you goofed off indiscriminately surfing the web or with co-workers talking about sports, Jersey Shore, etc.

Remember...time you lose to unproductive activities is stolen from your family, friends, and hobbies.

My Typical Day

I shifted my schedule around today, moving the workout to later in the morning. It's not a real tough session, because it is the Intro week to a new 4-week program, so I'll do it when I'm good and ready. I wanted to start the day by finishing some of the extra writing projects on my plate.

When I hit the gym it will be deadlifts, 1-leg squats, good mornings, and some ab endurance work.

The big news

So the big news in my world is that my business partner, Matt Smith, and I recently worked out a deal
to take control of a website called, www.EarlyToRise.com. This website has been extremely influential
in my life, and we look forward to continuing the tradition of bringing readers amazing content.

My first article for the site is:

"12 Rules I Live By"

Check them out and add yours here:

=> http://www.earlytorise.com/2011/07/20/12-rules/

To me, #8 is probably the most important of them all...it could stand alone.

Of course, adding another business to my life means I'll have to step up my time management. Time
is your most important asset.

So today's Kickbutt Mindset tip is:
Be firm with your time. A 10 minute phone call should not become a 30 minute conversation. Set
boundaries from the outset, and stick to them. It might upset a few people, but it will likely get
respect from a lot more who realize how valuable your time is worth. Do not hesitate to be ruthless
with your time...it's your life.

The above article was also written with the purpose of building a connection with the readers. After
all, as I mentioned yesterday, people won't listen to you until they know you. So I opened up and held
nothing back.

Once people know and like you, they will trust you. All things being equal, folks choose to do
business with their friends.

So today's www.InternetIndependence.com tip is:
Never underestimate the opposition to purchasing your product. Make sure you overcome every
objection and every last bit of skepticism. Remember...you're probably trying to sell something to a
complete stranger over the internet...think about that for a long time when you're creating your
website and offer. That's a big hill to climb. Work accordingly.

Leg Workout and Upper Warmup

Today was Workout 1 of my new 4-Week workout program. It was squat day, with glute ham raises
and front squats. A bunch of ab endurance work as well (plank variations). Later this morning I'm off
to my chiropractor for Active Release treatment. That involves a 30 minute bike ride across the city.
So lots of lower body work today.

Tomorrow though, is bench press day. My bench is climbing up the fastest of my three lifts, and I do
an extensive shoulder warmup before each workout. Check out the video here

Use This Workout To Help Rescue Bally the Dog

Hey Team Turbulence,
I sincerely apologize for Monday's email.
My account was hacked by the evil Svbraigz van CallEnssen.
Clearly he's friend with Rupert Murdoch and the folks over at the "News of the World".
Anyways, the rumors are true. The evil Super Villain, Svenbraigz CallEnsonn dognapped poor old Bally the Dog, and I'm frantically trying to track him down.
In fact, I flew down to Tampa, Florida to get help from the only person I know who could possibly track down this evil genius...
Lily Marionz (Joel Marionz daughter)

You can tell we just figured out what we're going to do. It's a brilliant plan. She's one smart lil' cookie.
So here's what she came up with.
Her plan included begging John Romaniello to create a cool, unique Superhero workout that would train you to have a lean amazing superhero physique (whether you're a Superman or a WonderWoman).
Plus, John and I created a new bodyweight program called the TT Fantastic 400.

And I'll give you the TT Fantastic 400 bodyweight workout as a bonus when you get John's new SuperHero Workout System here.
Just email our TT WonderWoman, Lesa, here and she'll send you a link to your bonuses (there's actually THREE workout bonuses):
=> TurbulenceTrainingHelp AT gmail.com
Use these workouts and you'll help me beat that dastardly super villain. Grab these cool new workouts here:
I figure if you can beat my TT Fantastic 400 bodyweight challenge, then you'll be able to help me battle the Super Villain, Braigz Callenson.
Together, we can defeat him and rescue Bally the Dog from his long, slow, cardio torture chamber.

My Weight Training Warmup for Upper Body

Tampa to Toronto

Had a great quick trip down to Tampa, Florida to visit Joel and Lisa Marion and their supercute baby
girl Lily. My friends Vince Del Monte and his amazing wife Flavia are also down here. Plus, as a super
extra bonus, the kick-butt Powerhouse Gym here in Tampa is the bomb. I honestly may have made
the trip just to train there. And I'm not kidding.

I did a moderately intense upper body workout. That's my last workout for this 4-week workout
phase, and now I'm into a deload/intro week before starting it up again. My bench is improving the
most, followed by deadlifts, and then squats trailing behind. But most importantly, I've been able to
do a great job of rehabbing some nagging injuries I built up from a training experiment gone wrong
back in March and April.

Today's Kickbutt Mindset Tips:
Everything can be reframed in a positive way. Switch from "don't be late" to "Be on time". You get
what you focus on. Put only positive expectations on the people you manage (kids, employees, etc.).

Life's easy when you live it the hard way…and hard if you try to live it the easy way. – Kekich #4…

In the meantime, I'll be hitting an upper body workout at the legendary Powerhouse Gym here in Tampa.
If you ever visit this city, you have to train at this gym. It's one of the best things in Tampa.

Dognapping Update

Greetings Fellow Villains,
My name is Svbraigz CallEnnsonn, Super Villain, and author of the
soon to be released workout, "TT Clash of the Super Villains".
It's an incredible new fat burning workout coming your way this week.

But enough of the pleasantries, after all, I'm evil. Quite eeevil.
That's right, so eeevil I need 3 e's in eeevil.
I make Dr. Evil look like Pre-med Fratboy Evil.
And you will certainly discover my evil side later this week when
I unleash the TT Clash of the Super Villains program on you.
**shakes fist**
...unless that super-dork trainer, Craig Ballantyne, pays me a
ransom of his six-pack abs in return for his dog, Bally, who I had
dognapped late last week.
Here's a photo of my evil henchman, "CROG", dognapping that
viciously friendly lil' varmint.
We've now got Bally the Dog locked away in my secret underground
lair, guarded by sharks with laser beams on their heads.
And we're making Bally do endless amounts of long, slow, boring cardio.
**insert evil laugh - Mwahahahahaha**
But the evil of long, slow, boring cardio is not what I have in store
for you with my Super Villain fat burning workout.
That workout is much, much more evil.
You'll get...
- The Joker's Jest circuit
- The Vulgarian Split Squat
- The Venom Pushup
- The Riddler's Revenge
And so much more evil your computer screen simply cannot handle it.
You'll just have to wait until it is released this week as a bonus to go
along with John Romaniello's new "SuperHero Workout".
Yours in fat burning evilness,
Svbraigz CallEnnsenn
Evil Norwegian Industrialist and Fat Burning Expert
PS - You're to love to hate my new TT Clash of the Super Villains
workout, but...
...it won't be available until Wednesday. I still have to go back down
into my evil laboratory and put a few final heinous touches on this
fat loss madness program. **insert more evil laughter, a roar of
thunder, and a flash of lightening**
And you can only get this workout as a bonus to go along with John
Romaniello's SuperHero Workout (or if you are a Platinum TT Member).
PPPS - No dogs were harmed in the dognapping of this dog.
Although he was yelled at for jumping on Crog...but then was immediately
given a belly rub because really, how can you stay mad at that lil pup,
even when you're an evil Super Villain?

TT Summit Update

It's been a big week here in the Turbulence Training world since the TT Summit has been announced.
This is a big step forward for us in moving towards our 1 Million Mission of helping 1 Million men and
women transform their bodies and lives.

We've had trainers from as far away as Manchester, UK, signup. Very cool.

On the other hand, I've received an email from a guy in LA complaining that San Diego is too far to
go.

It's amazing the different perceptions of opportunity that people have.

Today's Training Tip:
‎2 days in a row I've witnessed guys at the gym doing situps in a reverse hanging position on the back
extension. Do NOT do these. No matter what the benefits, it's not worth it. Even Svbraigz Von
CallEnsonn wouldn't put those in a program, and he's evil. You can get strong, sexy abs without
those...and other situp-like exercises.

Today I hit a good upper body workout, with a massive upper body warm-up preceding it. That helps
keep my shoulders save. More about that warm-up tomorrow.

Today's Kickbutt Mindset Tips:
No matter what happens in your life, you can turn pain into positive. Some of the greatest motivators
& helpers in the world (Oprah, Sean Stephenson, mothers who start foundations after their children
pass on too early) have transformed incredibly painful experiences into powerful messages and
positions that help millions of other people. We can do the same.

Be thankful for what you've accomplished. Always measure your progress against the past, not
against perfection or other people.

"You cannot brighten another's path without lighting your own." – Frank McKinney…Help someone
out today in the gym, or with their diet at work, or on FB or a fitness forum. The more you teach
others, the more that you yourself will understand.

Have a great weekend.

BTW, Bally the Dog has been dognapped by Svbraigz CallEnsonn and his evil henchman, Crog. But
don't worry, I am off to track him down.

Next week should be very interesting.

Beat the TRX Kid to the Squat Rack

There is joy in BallyVille today, as I beat the TRX kid to the one, lonely squat rack at the gym today. That meant I could get my squat workout done in 20 minutes, rather than waiting 40 minutes for the kid to finish up his 7 exercise circuit with his TRX hangind on the top of the rack.

I managed to do this by doing my old man warmup at home, then driving to the gym, getting there just after it opened.

Fortunately I'm going back to Toronto today to train at a gym with 5 squat racks and almost no members. Sometimes I have that gym to myself in the morning. It's the best home gym not in my own home.

One last thing...I'm looking on Craigslist for an olympic bar set and 500 pounds of weight, that way I can at least deadlift at home without having to go to the gym. I've found an equipment store selling a 300 pound set for $280, but I'm hoping to get a used set. Craigslist rules.

Today's workout resource:

7 workout boosters for good times...and more results too I s'pose...but
mostly just good times

Today's Kickbutt Mindset Tip from the legendary Sean Stephenson (look this guy up on Youtube):
"Fairness is an illusion. Fairness never existed and never will. No one in life gets more or less than anyone else, we just get different stuff… It really doesn't matter what cards you get…It's how you play and stay in the game" – Sean Stephenson

And today's Independence Tip tip:

You cannot have self-doubt.

NOTE: After I posted this on FB, someone commented in a joking manner, saying they "only have self-doubt".

Listen, that's what you get. You get what you focus on. What you think about is what you become.

Now don't worry, men aren't going to change into Playboy models...because that's all we think about...but the truth is, if you think and joke that you have no self-confidence, then you'll have no self-confidence.

If you think you are confident, picture and visualize yourself as confident, then you'll get better and better at being confident every day.

Aim for progress, not perfection, and believe in yourself.

Whether you think you can or can't, you're right. - Henry Ford

As an attendee, you'll get to attend 2 workouts (one each morning), and yesterday I worked out with one of the cool new methods I'll be sharing with you - The Bodyweight Cardio 400.

Another great way to get your clients "interval-training" style workouts without a single piece of equipment.

So heck, even if you came to the event just for the workouts alone, you'd get a big time return on your investment, not to mention the 2 full days of my advanced training info, and
complete client attraction blueprints from Bedros Keuilian.

Save these dates and grab your spot here:

=> http://www.TTSummit.com

And the first 50 trainers get 3 bonuses.

First, you'll get to join Bedros and I at a special VIP reception on Friday night. Heather, my event co-ordinator will be taking care of us all with refreshments after a hard day of bootcamp workouts and networking.

Second, you'll get access to the online videos from Bedros' Fitness Business Summmit that I spoke at last March. We'll send those over to you ASAP.

Third, you'll also get access to another trainer business seminar that Bedros and I will be doing in October in Las Vegas. This time we'll be focusing on teaching trainers how to improve their websites and run their own seminars. Big B (Bedros) is calling it, "The Las Vegas Project".

You can just imagine there will be some fun at that one. But we'll have a blast in San Diego too. Reserve your spot here:

=> http://www.TTSummit.com

Alright, that's it...off to put together my notes on the session where I'll be sharing my "Daily Dozen Documents" that I review each day to guide my business.

I've never shared these before.

So I'm really looking forward to that session.

See you in San Diego,

PS - Seriously, Bedros and I are two of the biggest goofs...

...so it will be a lot of learning and a lot of fun.

And if we can figure out how to succeed in this crazy world of fitness bootcamps and personal training, YOU can too.

See you in San Diego here:

It's going to be a blast. You have our Armenian-Canadian Strength 200%-money-back Guarantee that you'll leave with strategies to get a 1000% return on your investment.

300 Yard Sprint Workout

Haha! Old Ballythedog just got to chase 2 deers. One of the good things about having a farm. He gave it his all for about 300 yards, but there was no way he was catching that deer.

I'm just about to go join him for an outside workout, doing a bodyweight session from my upcoming Fantastic 400 program, plus some kettlebell presses.

Always making progress.

Understand we will never reach perfection, but we need to celebrate our journey as we improve from point A to point B. Make each day and workout better than your last. Measure, aim for, and celebrate progress, not perfection. And of course, never, ever, EVER give up.

Today's Kickbutt Mindset Tip
We create our own realities. For example, one person thinks healthy eating is simple while another thinks it is impossible. Why is this so? Because that is what each has chosen to believe. Choose your thoughts, beliefs, and expectations wisely.

And today's Internet Independence tip:
Get one important thing done early in the day before you get sucked into putting out fires. Get up earlier if you need to...and remember..."Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment." - Jim Rohn

I'm up at 5am and don't check my email until 9am. Sometime I workout before 9am, but most days I get a lot done before most people show up to work.

That explains a lot,

You'll go home with a complete blueprint for delivering the most amazing workouts to your clients and bootcamps, PLUS we'll show you exactly how to get more clients and fill those bootcamps with members who are happy to refer you new clients.

..you can too. Don't forget that Bedros is a first-generation American from Armenia who spoke little English and had to resort to dumpster diving for food, and I'm a small-town

Deadlift and Cressey Interview

Excellent deadlift workout this AM. It was a busy gym, with some of those young whipper-snappers hogging all the racks with their crazy circuit training.

Listen, I get it, I understand the point of the training. But it would benefit everyone if you could spare a little room for the rest of us. Thanks kiddos!

After that, I walked the dog and then just finished up a power interview with Eric Cressey for the TT Certification and TT Secret Society August newsletters.

We covered a ton of info in just over 45 minutes. That was an efficient interview at its best. Looking forward to what the TT Trainers think of that one.

Later today I'll be doing some planning for another big August journey to Europe, similar to last year (Lithuania, Poland), but this year it will be Lithuania, Norway, Denmark.

Here's a complete summary of last year's trip PLUS 10 travel tips for staying lean on the road. Check out this massive free report here

=> The Turbulence Training Travel Report

Also received some great TT Feedback on the Turbulence Training Facebook Page today:

"Week 3 of TT the Bodyweight/Dumbbell Fusion Intermediate workout has begun with a great workout today. Added reps to the bodyweight exercises really intense workout. Now time to refuel my body. Received kudos for getting the "cut" look so far so good. Looking to continue to challenge myself at the gym." - Femi Sasona

Fantastic 400 Workout

Just finished doing my new bodyweight challenge, The Fantastic 400, in my backyard. At 9am it was already hot and humid, so the sweat was pouring off me even more than normal. And the dog was doing all his barking in the shade.

It was a lot of fun, and I finished up with some ab exercises using the Power Wheel.

To be honest I wanted to keep going, but combined with my old-man warm-up, I'd been out there for 60 minutes, and that was enough. Time for me to get back to work, and for the dog to get back to lying around. He's already in "dog days of summer" mode.

The Fantastic 400 Workout will be available next week - July 19th. But if you are a TT Platinum Member, you can get it early - in addition to having access to EVERY TT workout I've created. Here's the link to this very special deal available this week only:

Clash of the Super Villains

Good squat workout today. Will probably do bodyweight exercises outside tomorrow. I'll be trying out the new TT Fantastic 400, a bodyweight program created by John Romaniello and myself.

We have two really cool workouts coming for you next week, including a new "TT Clash of the Super Villains" program. It's going to have awesome artwork and the goofiest storyline ever for a TT workout, even better than Braigz CallEntyne.

Rugged Outdoor Driving and Workout

So I haven't owned a car in 6 months, but I rented a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee this weekend. Pretty fun to drive. And keeping in the rugged spirit, I'm going to train outside with kettlebells today.

I can substitute all of my dumbell work with KB's and a TRX. No Barbells required today. Just doing presses, rows, pushups, dips, and pullups. Good times. A great Friday workout. Only thing missing is the lake, but I must do some work this afternoon.

Here's a great weekend workout challenge for you.

The Romanz and I are working on a new bodyweight challenge...but until it is done, you'll have to try this...the Romanz 500.

Deadlift and Abs

Today's deadlift workout included an ab exercise called, "Stir-the-Pot". It's been featured in a Men's
Health magazine before, and is attributed to ab and low back expert, Dr. Stuart McGill.

Happy 4th of July to all American TT'ers all over the world.

Canada Day Workout

Good times. An upper body workout to kick-off Canada Day. Now to do a long walk over to the
beaches area of Toronto. Yes, we have beaches. On a lake. Big enough for several thousand people.
And great fireworks too. Not a lot of fireworks in my program today though, because it is an intro

Men's Health (August 2011) reports on a Japanese study that found lower hip bone mass in men who
kept a cell phone clipped to their belt. Seriously, you think this thing isn't affecting your boys? I used

was to write down workout ideas...so back to pen and paper for me.
